Since 2011, the Austrian Development Cooperation has been working with Armenia to develop agriculture, aiming to stimulate economic activity by improving the general conditions and to contribute to the modernization and growth of agricultural production through the transfer of know-how. One of the main directions of the ADC is the development of agriculture, with the ultimate goal of reducing poverty and contributing to the growth of the population's income. The projects are implemented through capacity building and the exchange of advanced experience ("know-how").

The ADC attaches importance to the promotion of agriculture in its cooperation with Armenia. Knowledge transfer and new crop cultivation methods increase agricultural productivity. The establishment of small dairy or other processing enterprises will create future prospects for the rural population.

To lay the necessary foundations for business activities, Austria is also helping to build a modern and efficient administrative apparatus. The situation in Armenia is aggravated by the lack of diplomatic relations with Turkey and the conflict with Azerbaijan in the east and southwest. It maintains only friendly relations with its neighbors to the north and south, Georgia and Iran.
