The Executive Director of "SALAR International" met with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan Ryan Knox

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, received representatives of the SALAR International organization, led by Executive Director Ryan Knox.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araxia Svajyan, and the Head of the “Support to Decentralization and Local Government Reforms in Armenia” (DeaLog) project, Shane Quinn, and the head of the Armenian team of the project, Varsenik Mnatsakanyan.
During the meeting, the progress of the “DeaLog” program and the possibilities of further cooperation on decentralization and governance reforms in the field of general education were discussed. The program is funded by the Swedish Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) and a subsidiary of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR).
The “Support to Decentralization and Local Self-Government Reforms in Armenia” (DeaLog) project has involved 10 partner communities, which have come up with initiatives to deepen bilateral school-community cooperation with 34 schools operating in their territories.
It was noted that the annual Municipal Forum organized by the “DeaLog” project will also be held in Yerevan, which this year will be held under the title “Role of Municipalities in Education: Voices from Localities”.
A number of issues related to education management, in particular, the review of roles and responsibilities at different levels, were also discussed, highlighting international best practices in this context.
