Yerevan and Naples signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation Yerevan

An agreement on friendship and cooperation has been signed between the Yerevan Municipality and the Naples Municipality.
The solemn signing ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Armenia Alessandro Ferranti, the Senior Advisor for Foreign Relations of the Mayor of Naples Francesco Senesse, and the Advisor to the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Italy Hayk Sargsyan.
The parties noted that the signed document is an important basis for implementing joint programs and exchanging accumulated experience.
Attaching importance to strengthening ties with Italian cities, Mayor Tigran Avinyan noted that Naples occupies a special place in this regard.
“Naples is a city that is much closer to us Armenians than it seems. In the historical center of the city there is a street named San Gregorio Armeno, dedicated to St. Gregory the Illuminator, whose relics are kept in the church of the same name. It is a beautiful symbol of the connection between our peoples, which has a centuries-old history. In 2023, when I was talking with my colleague from Naples, Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, about having a direct flight between our cities, we also discussed that idea here in Yerevan, and now I can happily say that it has become a reality. The Yerevan-Naples direct flight has been launched since October, bringing our cities even closer to each other. With the signed document, we will have new initiatives with our partners in Naples,” the mayor noted.
