Armen Harutyunyan, Executive Director of the Union of Communities of Armenia, met with Garegin Khachatryan, Head of the Urban Planning, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia. The purpose of the meeting was to expand bilateral cooperation aimed at increasing the effectiveness of state oversight and improving community governance.
During the discussion, Garegin Khachatryan emphasized the importance of the program of measures aimed at addressing community-level issues and noted that a series of meetings is planned in the regions in the near future, with the participation of heads of consolidated communities and the professional staff of the Inspection Body.
According to Khachatryan, this initiative will provide community leaders with an opportunity to directly raise problematic issues existing in their communities, receive methodological support and professional advice, and analyze the results of inspections carried out. He particularly stressed that the key objective of such meetings is to develop and consistently implement practical steps aimed at eliminating deficiencies.
Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed more than a dozen issues related to the areas under the Inspection Body’s supervision.
In particular, issues in the fields of urban planning, land use, and geodesy, as well as possible solutions, were discussed. Special importance was also attached to the targeted use of land and the prevention of illegal construction at both state and community levels.
Armen Harutyunyan, emphasizing the importance of discussions in this format, expressed readiness to carry out systematic bilateral work. He noted that this cooperation has a preventive nature, where, alongside community consolidation, targeted assessment of the situation on the ground becomes a priority.
According to Harutyunyan, partnership with the Inspection Body represents a new platform that will allow transforming problems into constructive solutions, with an emphasis not on penalties but on the systemic resolution of issues. He highly appreciated the transparent working style of the Inspection Body and its close cooperation with communities, which will contribute to ensuring citizens’ safety.
At the end of the meeting, a number of agreements were reached regarding the implementation of upcoming joint sectoral activities.
